I finally felt like I was back to my normal reading pace for August, and it was also a month of spectacular reads! I’m also really enjoying the books I’m currently working through, although I couldn’t quite get them done for August.

Books I read in August (1,529 pages):

• The Strength of the Few by James Islington is the sequel to The Will of the Many and is set in an incredibly unique world with plenty of intrigue and deadly stakes – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
• Sea of Charms by Sarah Beth Durst is the third book in a loosely connected cozy fantasy series and was a lighter read between these other heavier books – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
• Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky is the second book by this author that I have read and was a selection for a book club that wowed everyone. You can find my review at this link here – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Reading now:

• Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon is the 8th book in the Outlander series. I’m making steady progress and anticipate finishing this one in September. I have less than an hour left of the 45 hour audiobook.
• The Tapestry of Fate by Shannon Chakraborty is the second book in the Amina al-Sirafi series of adventures about a retired female pirate who can’t seem to stay out of trouble.
• A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher is a novel I picked up on sale and hadn’t intended to read this month. However, I was looking for something to start reading on my Kindle that wouldn’t involve buying a new book since I’ve been over my allowance of books lately.

Other books I had hoped to get to in August:

• Alchemised by SenLinYu will just keep appearing on my lists until I have an excess of free time one month.
• Steelborn by Taylor J. LaRue is one that I’ve really been looking forward to starting, but there simply wasn’t time in August.
• A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett is the sequel to The Tainted Cup.
• Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman keeps coming up in book blogs and reviews and I’m curious to read it.

Books I’m planning to read in September:

• The Unicorn Hunters by Katherine Arden is a selection for a book club and is a historical fantasy stand-alone novel.
• The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon is straight historical fictio with no fantastical elements and was recommended by a friend.
• Murmuration by T. J. Klune is this author’s upcoming release and was given to me by Net Galley and the publisher for review.
• A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett is the second book in the Shadow of the Leviathan series and the next book after The Tainted Cup, which I really enjoyed.
• Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab is a stand-alone vampire novel that I’ve wanted to read.

New books acquired in August (1 allowed):

• Seed Takes Root by Anand Gandhi and Zain Memon is a book that I obtained by supporting the Kickstarter almost a year ago.
• Murmuration by T. J. Klune is the upcoming novel by the author and I received a copy from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
• Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky was a book I purchased by a book club discussion.
• Steelborn by Taylor J. LaRue was this month’s Fairy Loot pick and shouldn’t really count here because I already had an e-book copy I had received for review.
