Clare L. Deming lives in New Jersey and keeps applying to be an astronaut. She writes science fiction and fantasy stories with a variety of characters, settings, and themes. Her fiction has been recognized in the L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers of the Future contest and has appeared in The Common Tongue Magazine, Space and Time Magazine, Perihelion SF, and several other venues. She is currently working on numerous short stories as well as a novel (working title = Something Long and Epic). Her other two novels in progress have better titles: Starblight (space opera) and Badge of the Black Dragon (alternate history/fantasy).

Clare also works as a freelance writer and editor, writing on topics such as online gaming, pets, and travel. She loves to read as much as she can and writes book reviews occasionally here on her blog.

When not busy writing, Clare spends her time fencing. She has been competing in sabre for over twenty years, traveling across the United States and to Europe. She has been ranked nationally and has lost to Olympians. More recently, Clare trains for triathlons, and has started to write about her experiences on some of the short and long courses in the eastern U.S.
